First-choice XI

Dean Henderson Not a save to perform in the first half until forced to intervene from Arbër Hoxha’s curling effort. One well-timed sliding intervention against Qazim Laci demonstrated excellent game intelligence. Six out of ten

Jarell Quansah Tested against the opposition's main danger through their forward. Played in a central role to begin with then shifted out wide once Saka was introduced. 7

The defender Pushed up the pitch when in possession, as he has done in the past. At times lacked urgency on the ball with the tactic discontinued at half-time. 6/10

The tall defender Always dangerous from dead balls, per usual, perhaps is an alternative for Stones at the back as opposed to paired with him. A careless pass after the break came close to a goal from Albania. 6/10

Nico O’Reilly A further composed showing from the 20-year-old after his debut versus another side. Saka was unable to take full advantage of a clever backheel behind their defense. His position looks secure at this stage. 7

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning for his country. Slightly careless when playing out though his dangerous set-pieces posed a danger. A handy game manager for the boss to have against defensive opponents. Cautioned after a reckless tackle. Six

The midfielder Deliveries on corner kicks and set-plays created chances. Was given license to drift in left midfield only to be offside upon receiving in shooting positions. Given a deserved rest around the 60-minute point. 6

Jude Bellingham Played in a high position down the right and also put in the hard yards. Displayed moments of class and scuffed an attempt wide. Withdrawn towards the end by Rogers, a fellow player, following a yellow card. 7/10

The winger Had England’s clearest opportunity before halftime, his shot smartly stopped from the opposing goalkeeper. With a teammate holding position, he was forced to provide width out wide yet his deliveries from wide areas were hit and miss. Taken off late in the match. 6

The captain The difference-maker scoring seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth goals at international level. The first a classic opportunist's goal while the second an excellent headed goal following a clever run away from the opposition. Now 32, his form is unwavering and the side have every chance in the upcoming tournament when he's in the team. 8/10

The attacker Had difficulty to make an impact out wide. Was presented with a decent opportunity following a pass by Bellingham but the keeper denied him. Rashford made much more of effect when substituted. 5
