A popular South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation struggling with persistent crime.

Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials stated the forty-year-old entertainer was approached by three individuals, with one began shooting at him before escaping on foot.

The purpose of the incident remains unclear and no arrests are in custody, as per the official statement.

How It Happened

Law enforcement revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a building close to the Carlton Centre.

He had been present for hours at the property supervising the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, it was reported.

"Authorities believe the man was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.

The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but fell down on the opposite side of the road.
