Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
