Fans Call for Detainment of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande attended an event in Singapore for the regional debut of Wicked: For Good

Loyal supporters of the actress are urging that a man who jumped a barricade and touched the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or deported from Singapore.

A widely shared footage shows the individual from Australia pushing past photographers and charging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by onlookers.

Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the gathering by guards.

Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being taken in", though legal records revealed that he was due to be present on the following morning. It is not clear if he was charged.

Record of Disruptions

This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account includes clips of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last winter.

"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is obviously a legal violation," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.

"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user wrote.

Fans Express Concern Over Ariana's Well-being

Many followers accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed experiencing PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring many.

"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said one more comment on Instagram.

Several fans also criticised security officers at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while some requested online networks to block Mr Wen's uploads.

Response and Premiere Information

In videos spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.

Grande has not commented on the situation, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.

Fans at Wicked premiere
Hundreds of Singapore supporters had lined up to greet the cast of Wicked

Hundreds of fans had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore mall, including several who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.

The motion picture, to be launched on November 21, is the second of a two-film adaptation of the acclaimed theatrical production Wicked, which focuses on the surprising bond between two distinct sorceresses.

The production itself is a adaptation of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a rosé glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.

They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.

The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of 2024 in the UK, and received a dozen award recognitions, securing a pair for best costume and set decoration.
