Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors report that a former physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 charges comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
